Post-Consumer Food Waste Diversion Program
We at SSN campus have implemented a comprehensive post-consumer food waste diversion program aimed at minimizing waste and promoting sustainability across the institution. As part of this initiative, on-site composting stations have been strategically placed across dining facilities to collect food scraps and leftover waste from consumers. In collaboration with local composting facilities, the campus ensures that the food waste is diverted from landfills and repurposed into valuable organic compost. This compost is often reintegrated into local farms and gardens, contributing to the sustainability of the surrounding community. To encourage responsible waste disposal, the campus uses educational signage in dining areas and provides training for dining hall staff on best practices for food waste management. This program not only reduces the environmental impact of food waste but also fosters a culture of sustainability and awareness within the campus community. By engaging students, staff, and faculty, the diversion program helps instill a collective sense of responsibility towards waste management, supporting broader environmental goals and reinforcing the campus’s commitment to sustainable practices.

Food and Organic Materials Management Tracking and Assessment Initiatives
Our institution is committed to reducing food waste and optimizing organic materials management through facility team. We have proper food procurement, usage, and waste across our dining facilities. We have composite pit and incinerator for decomposition the food and organic waste. This enables us to implement targeted interventions and set reduction benchmarks, helping us meet sustainability goals and reduce operational costs. Regular audits and assessments ensure that our practices are effective and allow us to adapt our strategies to evolving needs.
