Narrative and/or website providing information about the institution’s universal design guidelines or principles:
SSN College is committed to creating an accessible and inclusive campus environment by designing its infrastructure in accordance with the Universal Design principles outlined in the National Building Code (NBC) of India. The institution ensures that its facilities are planned and constructed to provide equitable, safe, and convenient access for all individuals, including persons with disabilities, elderly individuals, and those with temporary impairments.
In line with the accessibility guidelines of NBC India, the campus features step-free access to key areas, barrier-free pathways, wheelchair-accessible ramps with appropriate slopes, and elevators equipped with tactile and audio indicators. Designated parking spaces near building entrances further enhance mobility for persons with disabilities. Tactile paving, braille signage, and strategically placed handrails across the campus provide additional support to individuals with visual and mobility impairments.
SSN College also integrates inclusive design in its academic spaces by providing classrooms with ergonomic seating, adjustable lighting, and assistive audio-visual technologies to support diverse learning needs. Restrooms and other essential facilities are designed with accessibility features, such as grab bars, accessible fixtures, and spacious layouts to accommodate wheelchair users comfortably
