3.1 Staff sustainability network or engagement program

Sustainability Engagement Program write up related to NSS involving faculty
Sustainability focused Staff Association is available at Institution. To inculcate the social inclination of the students, Institution has offered mandatory non credited course like National Service Scheme (NSS), Youth Red Cross (YRC) and National sports Organization (NSO). These Personality and character development course deals with sustainability related activities carried out by the student volunteers inside and outside the campus. Faculty who are member of Sustainability focused staff association handle these courses. This narrative outlines the framework, objectives, and impact of such a program in an engineering institution.

Sustainability Focused training for employees
The NSS Unit of SSN had organized a webinar on 14th August 2021 between 2 to 3 pm. We had speaker Miss Rashmi Jawahar, Project Administrator of UNIDO(United Nations Industrial Development Organization)who spoke on the topic "Understanding and calculating carbon footprint for universities". She gave a broader and detailed perspective on what is carbon footprint, how the carbon footprint is calculated and also talked about ways in which we can achieve carbon neutrality. 187 NSS Volunteers had participated in the webinar.

METHODOLOGY:
To assess employee participation in the institution's sustainability activities, a comprehensive survey was designed and conducted among the entire staff. The goal was to determine the extent of involvement and engagement in initiatives that promote sustainability within the institution. Survey
Design:
- A structured questionnaire was developed, focusing on several key areas of sustainability efforts at the institution, including:
- Participation in environmental conservation programs (e.g., tree planting, waste reduction initiatives). • Engagement in workshops or training sessions focused on sustainability practices (e.g., energy conservation, recycling).
Distribution and Data Collection:
The questionnaire was distributed through digital to ensure accessibility for all employees, regardless of their work location or preferences. Anonymity was guaranteed to encourage honest and open responses. Employees were given a period of two weeks to complete and return the survey.
