APPLIED LEARNING

1.Faculty Development Program on Green and Sustainable technology for next generation was conducted by the Department of Chemical Engineering from 21.8.20 to 30.8.20. The main aim of this FDP is to create awareness on green chemical technology and applications for sustainable development in the chemical industry.  Green technology promotes interdisciplinary research and development to important technological and theoretical developments in various environmental related issues

2.Short Term Training Program on Molecular simulation: From Chemical structure to Green separation Process was conducted by the Department of Chemical Engineering between 7.3.23 and 12.3.23. Molecular Simulation is an indispensable tool, not only for physicists and chemists but also for a wide spectrum of researchers working in a variety of engineering fields including chemical, petroleum, environmental, energy, electrical, mechanical and its allied engineering courses

3.Twelve days ACM Summer School on Cybersecurity for Women was conducted by the Department of Information Technology during 12-23, June 2023 catering to SDG 5 & 9.

4.An online training program on Robotics Technology was conducted for HCL company executives for a duration of 10 weeks (03.03.2023 to 12.05.2023) by the Department of Mechanical Engineering catering to SDG 9. The various modules include Technology trends in Robotic development and its application in Medical, Manufacturing & Automation.

 

LIVING LABORATORY EXPERIENCE

Following are the areas of institutional infrastructure and operations does SSN uses in teaching students about the topics of sustainability:Students have completed research projects funded by the management related to Sustainability in the following areas.

Buildings:

Feasibility and sustainability of M-sand waste as an alternate for brick manufacturing

Study on the mechanical properties of concrete with silicon carbide waste as partial replacement of aggregate.

Energy:

Design and fabrication of low-cost solar powered electric vehicle.

Grounds:

Development of a sustainable auger

Transportation:

SSN-Indoor Navigation system

Water:

Removal of fluoride from water using a neo surface textured bio-sorbent.

Optimization of operational parameters for the adsorption of phosphates and nitrates from water to sustainably activate carbon.

Waste:

Design and fabrication of membrane bioreactor for the management of wastewater.

Pyrolysis of waste plastics into fuel.
