SUSTAINABILITY COURSE OFFERINGS
The process for identifying sustainability course offerings involves mapping the courses that explicitly address sustainability-related topics or Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Each department reviews its curriculum to assess which courses incorporate sustainability themes. This is done by examining course content, objectives, and outcomes to determine alignment with SDGs and other sustainability frameworks. Courses that integrate social, environmental, or economic dimensions of sustainability are then categorized as sustainability courses.

PROCESS
SSN College's sustainability course listings are created and maintained through a collaborative and systematic process. Faculty, students, and the sustainability coordinator work together to identify courses that are either sustainability-focused or sustainability-inclusive. A database tracks these courses, which is updated annually to reflect curriculum changes and new course offerings. Feedback from the academic community is regularly solicited to ensure accuracy. The finalized listings are published on the college’s website and used for sustainability reporting

FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM ON GREEN AND SUSTAINABLE TECHNOLOGY FOR NEXT GENERATION
The program was conducted by the Department of Chemical Engineering from 19.3.24 to 25.3.24. The main aim of this FDP is to create awareness on green chemical technology and applications for sustainable development in the chemical industry. Green technology promotes interdisciplinary research and development to important technological and theoretical developments in various environmental related issues.Faculty were encouraged to carry out the interdisciplinary project and grants were provided to them by the college to carryout in the area of sustainability.
Does the institution host an ongoing multidisciplinary community of practice, sustainability across the curriculum training program, or equivalent support program for academic staff who are working to integrate sustainability into the curriculum?:
Narrative and/or website URL providing an overview the institution’s sustainability-focused community of practice, sustainability across the curriculum training program, or equivalent support program:
SSN College has established a multidisciplinary community of practice to support academic staff in integrating sustainability into the curriculum. Faculty members regularly participate in workshops, seminars, and training sessions focused on sustainability education, organized by the institution's sustainability committee and external collaborators. These initiatives provide opportunities for academic staff to exchange ideas, share best practices, and collaborate across disciplines to embed sustainability principles into their teaching.
DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF BIOSIGNAL CONTROLLED PROSTHETIC HAND
At SSN College, sustainability is seamlessly integrated into the curriculum by encouraging multidisciplinary projects that address societal challenges while fostering sustainable solutions. The project, Design and Development of Biosignal Controlled Prosthetic Hand, serves as an exemplar of this approach, combining principles of engineering, healthcare, and environmental responsibility.
This project aims to develop a lightweight, low-cost prosthetic hand with advanced dexterity and load-bearing capabilities, addressing a critical global healthcare need for amputees. By incorporating sustainability into the design and development process, the project ensures optimal resource utilization, material efficiency, and energy-conscious methodologies.
Key sustainability-aligned elements of the project include:
- Optimal Material Selection: Identifying and using eco-friendly, durable, and lightweight materials to minimize environmental impact while enhancing the device’s usability and longevity.
- Energy Efficiency: Utilizing low-power servo motors and integrating physiological control signals to reduce energy consumption during operation.
- Cost Effectiveness: Designing an affordable solution to improve accessibility for individuals in underserved communities, contributing to social sustainability.
- Validation for Endurance: Rigorous performance analysis ensures durability and minimizes material wastage during manufacturing.
