Southwestern University united with fellow member institutions of the Associated Colleges of the South in firm opposition to the 2020 policy change announced by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that denies international students full access to their education should their institutions need to return to fully online instruction.
Southwestern University also hosted a Climate Strike in 2019 and 2021 to raise awareness about climate change and to promote climate policy such as the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act that would institute a carbon fee and a carbon dividend.
