The Sustainability Coordinator hosts numerous training sessions for the Facilities Management leadership team to integrate sustainability knowledge and skills into the workplace.

A brief description of any external professional development and training opportunities in sustainability that are supported by the institution :
Southwestern University includes travel and professional development funds per department. For sustainability, funds are allocated to allow the Sustainability Coordinator to attend the AASHE Conference every year. In addition, Southwestern University funded 3 Facilities Management Staff members to participate in the TRUE Advisor certificate program, which provides a comprehensive curriculum about zero waste policies and programs.

Southwestern University is also a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, which allows all non-academic staff to receive sustainability training at a discounted rate.
