Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
"Green" S.A.F.E. (Sustainability Advancements Funding Endeavor) Fee amendment

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:

The "Green" S.A.F.E. Fee is a pool of money created by a $15-per-semester fee taken from each student's tuition. Any member of the Southwestern Community can then request funding for their sustainability-related project. However, until this year, the S.A.F.E Fee only applied to projects considered to be "environmentally" sustainable. So, in the fall of 2017, Environmental Studies capstone students wrote an amendment to the S.A.F.E Fee legislation to expand the scope to include all three facets of sustainability -- environmental, economic, and social. The amendment was approved by students, faculty, the senior ranking staff/faculty committee, and then was signed off by Southwestern's President. Now, university policy recognizes the comprehensive and intersectional nature of sustainability.
