The Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) was created in October 2016 with the hire of its first Senior Vice President/Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer (CDIO). The ODI, which includes the Digital Accessibility Team (as of 11/4/2024), serves as the strategic thought leader regarding issues of diversity and inclusion at SNHU. The ODI’s goal is to design, support, and coordinate One University diversity and inclusion efforts within a system-wide infrastructure to advance clear, measurable goals for the University. As a Strategic Enabler, the ODI spans boundaries to partner with diverse stakeholders to achieve shared goals to increase talent diversity, amplify community learning outcomes, and create a pervasive culture of belonging.

SNHU's cultural competence training and activities include online video library accessible through HR, custom workshops, training, and facilitated discussions conducted by ODI. ODI curates a SharePoint site with resources for all employees.

The CDO:

  • Sits on a Learning Governance body for the organization
  • Is a member of the Strategic Leadership Council that creates and oversees university strategic planning and execution.
  • Introduced and oversees Deloitte's framework or organizational maturity model for EDI.
  • Is executive sponsor for university's STEDI plan (Stiriving Together for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) that maps out strategy and executes projects related to:
    • Bias Response
    • Inclusive Hiring
    • Employee Resource Groups and Communities
    • Core Values and Skills
    • Skills-Based Organization Project
    • Annual, required employee goal for EDIlearning
    • Cultural Recognition Program
      • Monthly Moments that Matter Toolkits to drive learning and engagement (i.e. Jewish American Heritage Month, Arab American Heritage Month, Juneteenth, etc.
