The SNHU Environmental Sustainability Council (ESC) is an assembly of representatives from departments across the University that serves as an advisory group and governing body for the University’s Environmental Sustainability Strategic Plan. The ESC directly supports the University community efforts to foster environmental sustainability throughout the SNHU ecosystem to build a better and more just world.
The ESC, working in close partnership with University stakeholders, performs the following functions:
· Provides guidance and support to the SNHU Environmental Sustainability Strategic Plan
· Advises on priorities for sustainability projects and initiatives as informed by the University’s Sustainability Tracking, Assessment, & Rating System (STARS) report.
· Ensures coordination and communication among the respective University business units responsible for integrating sustainability into their policies, procedures, and protocols
· Communicates major council decisions and final outcomes to their leadership, colleagues, peers, and employees

A brief description of the activities and substantive accomplishments of the institution-wide coordinating body or officer during the previous three years:
SNHU’s Environmental Sustainability Council has received recognition as a formal working group by university administration; secured a formal budget from administration; raised awareness and embedded sustainability across all units of the university (from CETA to COCE to UC to GEM); secured funding to provide opportunities for students/faculty to attend conferences and most recently provided assistance in completing the STARS report.
