Part 1. Greenhouse gas emissions inventory
A copy of the most recent GHG emissions inventory:
A brief description of the methodology and/or tool used to complete the GHG emissions inventory:
The emissions inventory was conducted using the UNH SIMAP tool. Data sources included: Utility bills for electricity, natural gas, and other fuels. Vendor bills were used for fertilizer.
Has the GHG emissions inventory been validated internally by personnel who are independent of the GHG accounting and reporting process and/or verified by an independent, external third party?:
A brief description of the GHG inventory verification process:
SIMAP data was reviewed and audited by the SIMAP reporting team in November 2024. They
performed an audit to identify gaps or potential inaccuracies. Critical items and recommendations from SIMAP were addressed before the audit was finalized.
Documentation to support the GHG inventory verification process:
Scope 1 GHG emissions
Weight in MTCO2e | |
Stationary combustion | 2,959.74 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent |
Other sources (mobile combustion, process emissions, fugitive emissions) | 129.75 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent |
Total gross Scope 1 GHG emissions, performance year:
Scope 2 GHG emissions

Total Scope 3 GHG emissions, performance year:
A brief description of how the institution accounted for its Scope 3 emissions:
Commuting surveys were conducted to gain data for staff, faculty, and student commuting. A second student commuting data point was added at the recommendation of SIMAP to account for the Global Campus students. Business travel was gathered by collecting Enterprise rental car data, ProTravel airline data, and mileage reimbursement. Solid waste was gathered from Casella, our waste hauler. Wastewater was gathered from Pear.ai, our billing software.
