The literacy survey was developed by the Office of Sustainability supported by the Data and Analytics Team through Qualtrics. It was created and the first survey was sent out in 2024.

The literacy survey was administered to all University College (on campus) students in one survey and all Global Campus (remote) students in another survey. Both were open for three weeks.

University College (On Campus, over 400 respondents):
The average for the sustainability literacy survey for University College was 59.3%.
87% correctly identified the UN's definition of sustainability.
73% correctly identified the EPA as the primary US federal agency.
53% correcntly identified the Triple Bottom Line.
34% correctly identified the temperature listed in the Paris Climate Agreement.
28% correctly identified that "Safe and Enjoyable Consumption" was not an UN SDG.
59% correctly identified the definition of Fair Trade.
75% correctly identified carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and ozone are all greenhouse gasses.
