A brief description of the diversity and equity committee, office and/or officer, including purview and activities:
The Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) was created in October 2016 with the hire of its first Senior Vice President/Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer (CDIO). Recently, an Assistant Vice President for Strategy and Outreach was added. The ODI serves as the strategic thought leader regarding issues of diversity and inclusion at SNHU. The ODI’s goal is to design, support, and coordinate One University diversity and inclusion efforts within a system-wide infrastructure to advance clear, measurable goals for the University. As a Strategic Enabler, the ODI spans boundaries to partner with diverse stakeholders to achieve shared goals to increase talent diversity, amplify community learning outcomes, and create a pervasive culture of belonging. A strategic plan is currently being developed to advance the DEI strategy.

SNHU's cultural competence training and activities include online video library accessible through HR, custom workshops, training, and facilitated discussions conducted by ODI. Events include Day of Pride, National Coming Out Day, and Native American Pow-Wow.
