A brief description of the child care program, policy, or practice:

The Early Childhood Center is a State of Illinois licensed child care center for young children ages two through kindergarten.

We recently participated in the Quality Rating Scale (QRS) certification process, and achieved a 3-Star rating. The Quality Counts Quality Rating System (QRS) assists Illinois child care programs in providing quality care for children and their families. A provider's participation in QRS means they have gone the extra mile to help make sure children are receiving an enhanced learning and care experience. Quality care can help children succeed in school and in life. A QRS Award recognizes a provider for meeting specific indicators of quality. It is an accomplishment to be shared with families served and the community.

We are currently persuing re-accreditation through NAEYC (the National Association for the Education of Young Children).

Our Center opened in September 1969, and is proud to have provided quality care and education to young children in the University community for over 40 years.
