The Sustainability Advisory Group charter is charged with the following:
1) Providing a forum for the open exchange of sustainability information in higher education;
2) Advising the Chancellor’s Council on developing a sustainability vision and plan for SIUE that will reduce the University's ecological footprint, enhance informal and formal sustainability education, and reflect the University’s mission, vision and core values;
3) Identifying collaboration opportunities that promote sustainable practices in all University activities;
4) Developing a method for measuring SIUE's sustainability progress;
5) Promoting sustainability issue communication, education and achievements;
6) Reporting annually to the Chancellor’s Council, as well as to the University committee, on activities and accomplishments.

A brief description of the sustainability coordinator’s position:
The SIUE Sustainability Officer works under the supervision of the Vice Chancellor for Administration to integrate and manage campus sustainability activities, including serving as secretary of the Sustainability Advisory Group (SAG). Monitors progress on sustainability initiatives; works with campus constituencies, interest groups, and units to implement programs; and schedules and reports on SAG meetings. Advises the VCA and other administrators on sustainability matters.
