A brief description of the event(s):
In 2008, 2009, and 2010 SIUE celebrated Earth Day. Then in 2011 and 2012, the celebration was turned into a week-long event called Earth Week.
Earth Week 2011 was a fantastic week of educational outreach and entertainment. Events included student presentations, a panel of faculty discussing sustainability, Cumberland Gap (a blue grass band), and a day focused on local businesses.
Events for 2012 Earth Week continued the tradition of representing SIUE's commitment to environmental stewardship and leadership. The week-long events included two bands, a student jazz combo, a demonstration on natural cleaning solutions, information tables on sustainability-related campus groups, a workshop titled: "Integrating Sustainability into the Collegiate Lifestyle," and volunteer day at the Gardens at SIUE, and a social for SOS members and associates.
