A combination of University-owned and leased structures and affiliated community hospitals provides the base for SIU School of Medicine programs. The main facilities for delivering the medical school curriculum are in Carbondale and Springfield. Facilities in Carbondale are home to the first year of the M.D. program and basic science research laboratories. Springfield facilities provide for the remaining three years of medical school as well as residency programs and additional basic research laboratories.
