A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation:
A sustainability tent and/or table was set up during every new student orientation and Saluki Start-up which provided students information such as: the Student Green Fund, recycling basics, composting through a video presentation, and opportunities to get involved. In addition, during during Saluki Startup (a weekend before classes start which gives new students an opportunity to engage with one another, take part in campus activities, and learn the culture of the institution) sustainability was featured. During the Watermelon Fest, a campus traditional event, the university collected all food waste from the event for our compost facility and had a table set up providing sustainability and composting information. In addition, sustainability was featured during Saluki Success Days event, designed to help students plan for success at the university. At this event, we shared the importance of sustainability for all students and their future careers. Finally, sustainability information and engagement content was included on a jump drive that was handed out to all new students.
