Institution supports alternative fuel and power technology by including in its motorized vehicle fleet (cars, trucks, tractors, buses) vehicles that are:
- Gasoline-electric hybrid
- Diesel-electric hybrid
- Plug-in hybrid
- 100 percent electric
- Fueled with Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)
- Hydrogen fueled
- Fueled with B20 or higher biofuel for more than 6 months of the year; and/or
- Fueled with E85 or higher ethanol for more than 6 months of the year.
For this credit, the institution’s motorized fleet includes all institution-owned and operated vehicles that are used for transporting people and/or goods. Heavy construction equipment (e.g. excavators and pavers) and maintenance equipment (e.g. lawn-mowers and leaf blowers) are not included in this credit.
This credit applies to all institutions that have a motorized vehicle fleet.
Institutions earn the maximum of 2 points for this credit when all vehicles in their fleets are alternatively fueled and/or powered. Incremental points are available for using alternative fuels in some vehicles and/or having some alternatively powered vehicles. For example, an institution for which gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles comprise 50 percent of the total fleet would earn 1 point (half of the points available for this credit).
Report on the most recent data available.
Sampling and Data Standards
