The Seattle Colleges', of which Seattle South is a part of, District Transportation Committee, with student support, has been advocating with City of Seattle and King County for several years to improve the public transportation card for students. The District Transportation Comittee is committed to lowering the costs of public transportation for our students.

A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the national level, including the issues, legislation, and ordinances for or against which the institution has advocated:
On December 19, 2016, South Seattle College President signed and joined a diverse group of Higher Education Institutions in a letter to the new Congressional delegation and incoming Presidential transition team. The letter begins by stating we, "recognize our academic and ethical responsibilities to current and future generations to take aggressive climate action; to reduce our sector’s carbon pollution, to support interdisciplinary climate education, and to continue research that expands our understanding of rapidly changing earth systems."

Yes

The South Seattle College President signed a letter to the new Trump administration in December 2016 asking that the federal government support the Paris Agreement, an international climate agreement.
