A brief description of the institution’s wellness and/or employee assistance program(s):
At you.sdstate.edu, students, faculty and staff can receive information and advice based on topics such as physical, mental and financial health; all with their SDSU login. YOU@SDState looks to provide resources directly in the users hands by being mobile-friendly. It also has links to in-person resources on campus to help students succeed, thrive and matter.

Wellness Center:
-Personal Nutrition Counseling: Services include, but are not limited to, intuitive eating counseling, health campus dining education, disease specific nutrition plans, disordered eating management, sport/fitness nutrition counseling, food allergy counseling, digestive disorder management, pre-pregnancy and pregnancy nutrition counseling. This service does have a fee. This service is available to students, faculty, and staff.
-Wellness Coaching: Wellness coaching is a confidential partnership between an individual and a Certified Wellness Coach with the objective of assisting the individual to achieve their personal wellness goals. Wellness coaching utilizes effective behavioral psychology principles to assist clients in developing the mindset necessary to make lifestyle changes. Coaching sessions consist of completing a well-being assessment, creating a vision for future wellness, designing weekly and monthly wellness and behavioral goals, reflecting on goal experiences, and exploring support, structure, and environments needed to ensure success and handle changes. All sessions are personalized to meet the wellness needs of the individual. This service does have a fee. This service is available to students, faculty, and staff.
-Peer Health Educators: A selected group of members within HEROH club (Helping Everyone Reach Optimal Health) are certified as Peer Health Educators (PHE’s) who serve as a resource, referral agent, and role model for their peers. Peer Health Educators are trained on issues relating to health, wellness, diversity, and student leadership. Peer Health Educators are responsible for providing positive, interactive, and non-judgmental support and education to SDSU students to help them make healthy decisions regarding their well-being. This service is free. This program is available to students.

Health Clinic:
The Student Health Clinic and Counseling Services provides health care and mental health services to students enrolled in classes at SDSU. Appointments can be made by students. There are various processes that are available to faculty and staff to refer students for counseling, the Red Folder serves as a resource for faculty and staff with assisting students in distress. The front page includes algorithms to aid in decision making, identifying resources, responding to students in distress, and making a referral when appropriate.


Human Resources:
Service is offered through the State of SD benefits at no cost to benefit-eligible employees and their spouses, dependents and household members. Includes interactive digital tools, confidential emotional support, work-life solutions, legal guidance, financial resources and on-line support.
