A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation :

A mandatory two-day orientation is attended by the first year and transfer students before the start of the semester. During the tour, the students are introduced to different campus programs and services. Off these programs, they learn about JUMP (Join Us Making Progress) and STEP UP (Seawolves Targeting Earth-Friendly Practices), which engages students in getting involved with sustainable practices in the residence halls and the community they live in. Some of the topics addressed during the orientation are water & energy conservation commitments and practices; university culinary services practice of buying local food to prepare the student meals.
