A brief description of the institution’s wellness and/or employee assistance program(s):
The employee assistance program (EAP) is designed to provide professional assistance to state faculty, staff and their families (dependents and permanent household members) in assessing and resolving personal problems that may be affecting well-being or job performance.The program is ran through Empathia, which offers a wide array of health solutions focused on promoting individual and organizational well-being, providing work/life resources and educational webinars/seminars for employees.
Counseling & Psychological Services supports the overall mission of Sonoma State University and a division of Student Affairs. The mission of Counseling & Psychological Services is to serve the mental health needs of the campus community through offering counseling, consultation, training, and outreach. The program strives to acknowledge, accept, and support the perspectives of a diverse campus population. This includes, but is not limited to race/ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, ability, religious/spiritual affiliation, and socio-economic status. In counseling, the goal is to empower clients and promote personal growth, effective communication, positive self-esteem, satisfying relationships, decision-making skills, and the clarification of personal values.
The University also sponsors an Employee Wellness Program which features: an employee fitness center, workshops on ergonomics, lunchtime yoga, and smoking cessation workshops.
