IPEDS – The Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System collects data from SSU via the Office of the Chancellor regarding student enrollment and graduation rates. The data is used at the federal and state level for policy analysis and development and at SSU for comparisons to other similar institutions. We receive an IPEDS feedback report each year and post it on our website (http://www.sonoma.edu/aa/ir/ipeds/index.html) as a source of information for all departments on campus. The latest report is for the 2014-2015 year and includes information regarding ethnicity of enrolled students as well as comparisons of graduation rates by ethnicity.
The Graduation Initiative Group (GIG) developed a ‘Closing the Achievement Gap Plan’ using IPEDS and other institutional data. It was developed in 2009 and set graduation rate targets for URMs (under-represented minorities). The group established specific action steps to be taken by Sonoma State to achieve the desired targets. The full plan can be found online at (http://www.sonoma.edu/aa/docs/ap/ssu_graduation_gap_plan.pdf.)
The Office of Institutional Research at Sonoma State provides data on ethnicity to Schools and individual departments as requested. The data helps inform the Deans and Chairs on graduation and enrollment rates for different ethnic groups within their departments. The information is provided to departments by request but general information for Fall 2015 can also be found on the IR website (http://www.sonoma.edu/aa/ir/quick-facts/population-school.html.)
