A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation (including how multiple dimensions of sustainability are addressed):

100% of new students were led on a Campus Tour which highlighted the compost and recycling bins in the dining hall. Tour guides explained the benefit of diverting waste from landfills. The tour also included instruction on how to navigate the Shuttle Service.
100% of entering undergraduate students received a reusable shopping bag at check-in. Student Orientation Leaders (SOLs) explained the California State Law that charged plastic bags, and SOLs also explained how the reusable bag was more environmentally friendly and contributed to a sustainable culture.
