Has the institution conducted a survey or other evaluation that allows for anonymous feedback to measure employee satisfaction and engagement during the previous three years?:
Yes
Percentage of employees (staff and faculty) assessed, directly or by representative sample (0-100):
25.60
A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:
In 2016, Smith College created and conducted Pathways, its comprehensive campus survey to assess the college’s campus climate. Campus climate is a construct that is defined as the “current attitudes, behavior and standards of employees and students of an institution.” Assessing Smith’s campus climate is vital because research shows that the campus environment affects learning and developmental outcomes for students and the personal and professional development of faculty and staff.
Many of the questions included in this survey will be used by HR to assess employees' satisfaction and level of engagement at Smith College.
A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation (including examples from the previous three years):
This is the first time that the Pathways survey has been administered. The results will be made public in April, 2017, and from there action plans will be established to address issues raised. All stakeholders—faculty, staff and students—will be invited to participate in the development of post-survey action initiatives.
