Energy Management and Benchmarking

Of the institution's uncertified building space, what percentage of floor area is maintained in accordance with an energy management or benchmarking program? (0-100):
100

A brief description of the energy management or benchmarking program:
SRU monitors total campus energy use through the annual PASSHE Utility Usage Report provided to each state system university by the Penn State Facilities Engineering Institute. This report includes data on each type of energy used (reported in mmBTU/year for each fuel type), as well as the Student Population and the Gross Square Feet of buildings in the PASSHE inventory for SRU. An Energy Utilization Index is calculated for use in benchmarking with other universities. We also track and report on energy use per student as another benchmark. SRU is currently upgrading its building metering and Building Automation System software to facilitate detailed analyses of our energy use on a building-by-building basis.

Water Management and Benchmarking

Of the institution's uncertified building space, what percentage of floor area is maintained in accordance with a water management or benchmarking program? (0-100):
100

A brief description of the water management or benchmarking program:
SRU monitors total campus water and sewage use through the annual PASSHE Utility Usage Report provided to each state system university by the Penn State Facilities Engineering Institute. This report includes data on water and sewage used, as well as the Student Population and the Gross Square Feet of building in the PASSHE inventory for SRU. This allows us to use MGallons/GSF-Year and MGallons/Student-year for use in benchmarking with other universities. SRU is also upgrading its building metering and Building Automation System software to facilitate detailed analyses of our water use on a building-by-building basis.
