As a 2009 signatory of the ACUPCC, SRU's Climate Action Plan outlines the strategies needed to reach climate neutrality by 2037. The long-term goal of the CAP is to achieve climate neutrality and further the cause of human-induced climate change.

Some of the short-term and mid-term goals include; converting the central plant to biomass, alternative transportation plan, solar arrays, purchasing green electricity, recommsioning existing buildings, and targeting behavior modifications.
