The Skidmore Community Garden and Skidmore Compost sites each have a rainwater catchment system to aid with irrigation and cleaning needs.

A brief description of the institution's initiatives to replace plumbing fixtures, fittings, appliances, equipment, and systems with water-efficient alternatives (e.g. building retrofits):
Cooling Water Recirculation: Skidmore saved about eight millions gallons of water annually by changing the pump bearing cooler to recirculate water in some water-cooled equipment. Water Saving Fixtures: Skidmore has installed low-volume toilets, low-flow shower heads, and faucet aerators to reduce domestic water use.
