A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting:
An extensive survey, with 7878 respondents of the 32,589 population of SFU, on commuter behaviour, was conducted in the Spring of 2014. The values here represent preliminary results gathered through this survey. When comparing the survey respondents to actual SFU population make-up, the survey sample satisfactorily represents the surveyed population.
Values were calculated based on the commuting behaviour of all three SFU campuses (Burnaby, Vancouver, and Surrey).
