A brief description of the institution’s sustainability partnerships with the local community:
SFU has many different good examples of community partnerships; I have selected two to elaborate on.
SFU is currently entering into a contract with the City of Vancouver to connect student researchers to city workers to complete projects of benefit to the city.
SFU partners with the Tula Foundation to manage the Hakai Network for Coastal People, Ecosystems, and Management. This project focuses on the sustainability of B.C.'s coastal ecosystems and peoples. The Tula Foundation will provide SFU with $8 million over eight years to research and support ecological and social sustainability initiatives on the B.C. coast.
