A brief description of the programs sponsored by the institution to support under-represented groups within the student body:

Support for underrepresented groups at SFU is both institutionalized as by the Human Rights Office mandate, and practised with formal university programs and informal student support clubs.

SFU Health and Counseling Services also provides counseling for under-represented groups

Out on Campus: university-sponsored student support group for any SFU personnel seeking information regarding gender and sexual orientation.
Women's Centre: a student organization offering support and information specifically regarding women's issues. SFU International: a branch of Student Services offering support to international students, research opportunities for faculty and staff, and resources to help ease the transition for international students into SFU.

There are no specific programs in place for SFU faculty; however, the faculty union (SFU Faculty Association) handles all concerns regarding the representation of its members. The Human Rights office also handles concerns on behalf of faculty members.

As for faculty members, the Human Rights Office deals with representation concerns for SFU staff members, and the staff union (SFU Administrative and Professional Staff Association) has representatives to support underrepresented SFU staff members.
