A brief description of how the institution ensures compliance with green building design and construction guidelines and policies:

The signed Energy Committment set a 2% total energy reduction target year over year. It also sets a 20% emissions reduction targetfor 2020 (baseline year of 2007).
The Committment is accompanied by 2 Appendix documents: Appendix 1 Energy Conservation Standards
Appendix 2 Energy Standards for Design and Construction

Beyond the energy and emissions reduction goals, green building guidelines were embedded into standard project delivery process set in the Project Guide and fully bookmarked and indexed to facilitate search. Further work is underway to refine and further develop these standards as an online searchable database.

All major capital projects built in the last 8-10 years have incorporated multiple green building strategies and these are published online as project/building specific information to encourage wide adoption and understanding of green initiatives
