A brief description of how green cleaning is incorporated into cleaning contracts:
The Request for Proposals (RFP) for housekeeping services outlines Sheridan's sustainability mission and goals. It also includes the following text: Cleaning Chemical Strategy The successful respondent will supply all cleaning chemicals, appropriate cleaning chemical dispensing systems and other related items required to complete the services noted in this RFP. Sheridan will only accept chemical products that are 3rd party certified green and considered market leaders with respect to sustainability, the environment, health and safety and cleaning capabilities. The chemical cleaning products proposed should be part of a certified Green Housekeeping program and all respondent staff must be properly trained with respect to application and use. As part of the RFP process each respondent will be required to provide brand names, yield data, anticipated usage, startup costs, annual estimated usage and costing details.

Energy Management and Benchmarking

A brief description of the energy management or benchmarking program:
The Office for Sustainability and Facilities Department at Sheridan continuously track and monitor water, fuel, and electricity cost, as well as performance metrics, using an online utility management software, called EnergyCAP. The College has installed submeters in all buildings and continues to upgrade its BAS (Building Automation System) to a native BACnet BAS across all three campuses. The data collected from the BAS, submeters and utility bills is used to identify energy efficiency opportunities, resolve system issues, and track performance. The data is aggregated and displayed on a dashboard, which is made publicly available on the website (http://dashboard.sheridancollege.ca/). We compare the YoY data against the baseline to review the progress achieved on the energy goals. Similarly, the Facilities Department participates in an annual OCFMA (Ontario Colleges Facilities Management Association) benchmarking report, which compares energy and cost performance across all Ontario Colleges, among other metrics, and shares the key achievements in the annual meeting.

Similar to energy, water use is also tracked and monitored using the EnergyCap software. The online dashboard showing water use across all three campuses is publicly available on the webpage. Currently, the College has set no goals for reducing water use. Also, in the Fall of 2015, the Office for Sustainability hired a co-op student to undertake an extensive water audit and benchmarking report. All energy and water consumption, including anomalies and trends over time, are being tracked in EnergyCAP software.
