A brief description of any internal sustainability professional development and training opportunities that the institution makes available to staff:
The Centre for People & Organizational Development (CPOD) coordinates the employee learning calendar and to date no offerings have been organized with the Office for Sustainability. Although CPOD does not specifically make available training or professional development (PD) opportunities in sustainability. Eligible employees may apply for PD funding up to $1000 per fiscal year to engage in PD opportunities that may have a sustainability focus. However, this is not tracked. As per Sheridan’s Human Resources website: “Any type of professional development is available to staff based on the following criteria: the relationship to the applicant's primary roles(s) with Sheridan relevance to the applicant's field of expertise or professional designation how the activity complements Sheridan's strategic direction.” There are only internal website links related to this; however, we have created 3 documents that are accessible on the public document in the new employee welcome package that outline briefly the existence of this fund. https://www.sheridancollege.ca/~/media/Files/Sheridan%20College/Working%20at%20Sheridan/Careers%20at%20Sheridan/New%20Hires/professional%20development%20summary%20of%20benefits%20support%20revised%20oct%202013.pdf

Eligible employees may apply for professional development (PD) funding (up to $1000 per fiscal year) from a centralized college fund to attend external training opportunities including courses, conferences workshops or seminars that pertain to sustainability if the professional development activity is related to the employee’s position.
