A brief description of the institution’s programs that help increase the diversity of higher education faculty:
Although Sheridan does not have a program specific to students, in March 2014, it approved a Employee Accommodation Policy that addresses this:
Employees at Sheridan may require an accommodation in order to fulfill the essential duties of a position. The employee accommodation policy seeks to provide fair and consistent employment accommodation in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC).
The intent of the policy is to address requests for accommodation by Sheridan employees – these are made primarily on basis of religion, family status, or disability, however the policy may be used to address any request for accommodation under the OHRC.
The policy states that accommodation may be:
- requested by a prospective employee to the Sheridan employee coordinating the recruitment process
- requested by the employee in writing through their manager, or through human resources
- identified by the employee’s manager or the hiring manager OR
- requested by a prospective employee to the Sheridan employee coordinating the recruitment process
