Smart Thermostats

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:

All renovated spaces at Sheridan are now fitted with upgraded thermostats that give users control over the zone temperature which provides feedback to the BAS regarding, temperature, humidity and CO2 enabling demand-control ventilation strategies. This has resulted in a new level of personal temperature control at Sheridan, an unprecedented occurrence. The new thermostats allow for the temperature to be adjusted within a narrow band of setpoint temperatures that vary with the building’s heating, free or mechanical cooling status. The setpoint range changes have also initiated discussions within the Facilities Services staff on why and how the temperatures are adjusted. The new thermostats are also easily accessible to people with disabilities and can be operated with a closed fist.
