A brief description of the institution’s programs that help increase the diversity of higher education faculty :

All full time employees at Sheridan College including visible minorities, Aboriginal People, and persons with disabilities have access to Professional Development Benefits such as

1.Professional Development Funding:
All faculty who have been employed by Sheridan full time for one year are eligible to apply for PD funding up to a maximum of $800 per fiscal year

2.Employee Access to Sheridan Courses at a Reduced Rate

3.Tuition Reimbursement:
All full-time, non-probationary faculty are eligible to apply for tuition reimbursement for courses that lead toward a baccalaureate, masters or doctoral degree at an accredited institution. Each full-time faculty member may be eligible for only 50% of tuition fees to a maximum of $15,000 for tuition assistance over the span of his/her full-time employment at the College. The maximum amounts granted for each degree are as follows:
•Up to $ 5,000 for a baccalaureate degree
•Up to $10,000 for a master’s degree
•Up to $15,000 for a doctoral degree

4.Sabbaticals (Professional Development Leaves):
Sheridan acknowledges the importance of providing sabbatical leaves to enhance a faculty member’s teaching and learning experiences. Faculty with six or more years of service will be granted opportunities for professional development leaves using fair and equitable criteria. The process for awarding sabbatical leaves is outlined in Article 20 of the Academic Collective Agreement.
