The Committee on Diversity, Inclusion, and Cohesion (a University-wide body consisting of faculty, staff, and student representatives), the Office of Multicultural Affairs, and the Associate Dean for Faculty Development and Inclusion all work to advise on and implement policies, programs, and trainings in this area.

A brief description of the institution’s cultural competence trainings and activities for each of the groups identified above:
For the last three years, Dr. Micia Mosely has provided a training on diversity, equity, and inclusion to all participants in new student orientation. Diversity, equity, and inclusion has been a primary topic at two of our annual faculty retreats (with presentations and facilitation provided first by outside consultants and then by Sewanee faculty and staff). Faculty and staff have had access to inclusivity training provided by staff from the Posse Foundation. Beginning in fall 2018, all members of faculty hiring committees must complete inclusivity training.
