On the Sustainable Seneca Instagram account we highlight the sustainability programming at Seneca to encourage our campus community to act, and to bring awareness about several sustainability-related topics, such as the Sustainable Development Goals, waste reduction and key environmental- related topics. A email is sent to all students and employees at the beginning and end of the term, sharing where relevant information about upcoming events, volunteering opportunities and milestones regarding sustainability.

LEED BUILDINGS
Seneca’s Newnham Campus A building has the LEED gold plaque, next to the welcome desk.
TERRAZZO MEDALLION
The award-winning terrazzo medallion insert on the floor of CITE building at Newnham Campus, titled Circle of Indigenous Knowledge, has an interactive screen next to it where you can learn about the teachings and meaning of all the design components of it.
RECIPROCITY MURAL
The reciprocity mural, inspired by the words of Robin Wall Kimmerer from the Citizen Potawatomi Nation- has a QR code next to it, which explains the meaning of all the elements that are part of it. WASTE STATIONS
All the waste stations on campus have signage to identify the acceptance criteria for all the waste streams. In addition, in the summer of 2023, an AI system called Oscar was installed at 3 of Seneca’s cafeterias to help people sort their waste correctly.
DIGITAL SCREENS
The digital screens around all our campuses are used to promote different sustainability–related events and initiatives throughout the year, such as the bring your own mug program.
TEXTILE BINS
The textile bins at 4 of our campuses are branded with the Sustainable Seneca and the Diabetes Canada logo, and signage to indicate that they are textile bins.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) and the York Region schedules for the bus lines near the campuses are displayed on screens around all our main campus exits.
