The Sustainable Seneca Committee is a cross-college stakeholder group whose role is to help promote and embed sustainability in the Seneca culture, in the way business is conducted, and the values and learnings are imparted on to the students.
Members of the Sustainable Seneca Committee will support, promote and advance sustainability initiatives by:
• Encouraging, celebrating and advocating for excellence in environmental sustainability within their respective area and across Seneca
• Acting as a repository of best practices and increasing awareness of Seneca initiatives by producing, among other communications tools, an annual report card highlighting success stories in the following areas:
o Conservation and restoration
o Energy and climate change
o Green building
o Transportation
o Waste management
o Water
• Collecting requests for sustainability initiatives from various parts of Seneca, prioritizing and recommending for implementation based on their significance and viability, identifying leads, and advocating for resources
• Identifying appropriate external partners for funding and collaboration
• Encouraging weaving the sustainability agenda into academic curricula across programs
• Helping to set standards of sustainability performance in key areas
• Creating opportunities to influence student perspective and literacy on sustainability and to celebrate student engagement in this area
• Monitoring best practices in the broader post-secondary community

Seneca's Sustainability Committee had the following accomplishments since 2017:
• Create a sustainability focus website and communication materials shared internally and externally
• Create a sustainability supervisor position that focuses on advancing sustainability throughout the College
• Continue to host events focused on sustainability such as the Green citizen and the Sustainability Fair
• Coordinate and finish the STARS submission
• Apply for grants to support sustainability projects
• Partner with WWF to strengthen the engagement component of sustainability on campus

1. Work with all aspects of the campus community, including students, faculty, and staff to promote an understanding and awareness of sustainability issues by coordinating informational training and presentations and promoting energy and water conservation, waste minimization, recycling, sustainable building and landscape design, alternative transportation, procurement of green products, etc.
2. Serve a liaison between various campus entities to assure communication and resource coordination for sustainability programs and projects.
3. Coordinate and compile College data for the ongoing Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) Sustainability Tracking, Assessment, and Rating System (STARS) self-assessment program and enters data from campus organizations into the STARS reporting tool for submittal to AASHE.
4. Implement and maintain internal sustainability training and programming including, student ambassadors programs.
5. Assist in defining sustainability goals and tracks performance metrics to assess program effectiveness.
6. Improve the effectiveness of the College’s sustainability practices by monitoring best practices related to sustainability at the College’s benchmark peer institutions and other select institutions and makes recommendations for new sustainability programming and modifications to existing programs.
7. Attends the Sustainability Committee and related scommittee meetings and implements recommendations, including promoting and focusing student enthusiasm and energy towards sustainability.
8. Serve on campus committees as assigned and attends meetings with external organizations to represent the College on sustainability issues.
9. Support Facilities Management and other departments as appropriate in relation to implementing sustainability programs.

Project Planning and Execution
● Builds the project plan with associated supporting documentation as defined by standard project planning policies and procedures, including Project Charter, Scope Definition, Work Plan, and Schedule (Assignments, timeline, milestones, and deliverables).
● Identifies internal and external resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities.
● Manages day-to-day tracking, progress and issues resolution aspects of a project and scope.
● Reviews deliverables in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including advancement office, funding agencies, faculty, etc.
● Effectively applies the project management principles throughout the project life cycle.
● Coordinates deliverables reviews and quality control activities.
● Manages and performs regular assessments on issues and risk.
● Change Control: revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
● Facilitates a post-mortem review of successes and lessons learned.

in charge of waste, grounds, beekeeping, part of the committee, one full-time staff, champions different initiatives with different departments
Reporting to the Director, Facilities Management, the Senior Manager, Environmental will ensure continuity across all campuses in the areas of custodial services, waste management, and environmental sustainability.
The Senior Manager is responsible for the management of all Custodial personnel and finances, insurance and MTO compliance of all College vehicles, ensures the consistent and effective custodial services, waste management and environmental sustainability programs, policies, and procedures are in place to reduce the College's exposure to risk, responding to internal and external information requests and the leadership, direction and development of staff. The Senior Manager will represent the college in claim discoveries and legal hearings for slip and fall claims and other legal related matters.
