Sustainable Selkirk accomplishments over the past three years: - Hired full-time, continuing Sustainability Coordinator in May 2018. - Sustainability outreach events that traditionally have occurred on Castlegar campus are now also being hosted on Silver King and Tenth Street campuses as well (ie. Fair Trade Campus week, Bike to College Week, Sweater Days). - Recycling streams, including units and signage, are now consistent across all campuses. - Recycling program has expanded (ie. battery recycling). - A new energy management system was implemented in fall 2018 to track and monitor energy use on both Castlegar and Nelson campuses. - College's Fair Trade Campus Designation has been maintained across all campuses for over 5 years - The College carpool program has been expanded and designated parking spots are at both Castlegar and Silver King campus - A student-based Environment Club has been consistently active on Castlegar campus since September 2017 - Participation in the Castlegar campus compost program has increased - Energy Conservation Procedures have been appended to the College's Environmental Sustainability Policy - Community connections within the region have increased - A sustainability literacy assessment has been developed and administered - Partnerships with students working on sustainability-related projects have increased (GIS, School of Environment, Peace Studies) - Carbon emissions have lowered during 2018, compared to 2017.
