The main parking lot on the Castlegar campus includes bioswales, which capture, treat and redirect stormwater runoff before it enters the neighboring Columbia River. At the entrance to this parking lot, there is interpretive signage which explains how the bioswale installation works and how it is mitigating negative impacts on the surrounding environment.

A brief description of the signage on the grounds about sustainable groundskeeping and/or landscaping strategies employed:
Watering of the lawns and gardens on campus has been greatly reduced over the past few years, resulting in a drier, browner landscape during the summer months. During this time, signage is displayed on the lawns that informs the public of the college's decision to reduce its water consumption for irrigation in an effort to promote sustainable landscaping practices.

A brief description of the sustainability walking map or tour:
Sustainable Selkirk's Story Map shows where students can find recycling and composting bins, water fountains and bicycle racks. It also shows the location of other sustainability projects, such as the bioswale installation. The story map provides written descriptions of these initiatives, as well as an interactive map. Having this map available online, instead of in print form, was a conscious choice to reduce our paper use.

A student created a web map for their GIS term project, that shows cycling routes to Castlegar campus from surrounding area. The map provides information on the routes, including distance, approximate travel time, shoulder availability, elevation change and highway crossing points.
