A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:
Sustainability is included in the new employee orientation programs at SU:

• STAFF: The “new staff cohort” based onboarding program at SU called “Rising Redhawks” includes an “SU101” online training that is automatically assigned 2 days after the new staff’s start date. The training should be completed within 30 days of the start date. It includes a welcome video from the President and VP of HR, as well as informational videos by various campus partners. One of the informational videos is a 25 min introduction about SUstainability (presented by SU’s Associate Director of Sustainability). It includes information about the university’s Laudato Si Action Platform strategic goal; highlights of sustainability practices at SU; examples of actions employees can take to help the university obtain greater sustainability; resources and contact information; and it makes the connection between environmental justice & sustainability AND the university’s Jesuit identity and mission to empower leaders for a just and humane world.

• FACULTY: The New Faculty Institute orientation is for all new faculty at SU and includes sessions on how to incorporate our Ignatian values into faculty teaching, including the topics of sustainability and social and racial justice.
