Has the institution calculated a natural water balance for the campus to assess the sustainability of its water withdrawal?:
Yes

A brief description of the methodology used to calculate the campus water balance:

We took the total campus area at 50 acres and multiplied it by the average annual rainfall (40 inches) in Seattle to get the total volume of water that enters our campus each year. We also took evapotranspiration into account, which means about 10 inches of water leaves our campus each year by evaporation, so we net an average of 30 inches of water over 50 acres per year.

A brief description of how the institution’s water withdrawal compares to the natural water balance of the campus:

When taking evapotranspiration into account, we found our net water intake is 40,730,000 gallons per year from the natural environment while our average annual water consumption is 34,550,000, resulting in a net positive annual balance of 6,180,000 gallons.
