A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation (including how multiple dimensions of sustainability are addressed):
Sustainability is included in the new employee orientation program. All new employees (permanent, temporary and part-time) are required to attend orientation and are present during the sustainability presentation. The presentation is approximately ten minutes long and discusses the ways in which sustainability encompasses social justice, environmental stewardship and environmental justice. The presentation highlights Seattle University's sustainability goals and efforts, LEED buildings, waste reduction/diversion, and how energy and water are conserved. Examples are provided of steps each employee can take to help the university obtain greater sustainability. Resources and contact information is provided should anyone seek guidance.
