A brief description of the diversity and equity committee, office and/or officer, including purview and activities:
The Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) encourages students and employees to be agents of change by empowering moral and ethical leaders to be active, engaged citizens who serve their communities.
OMA is dedicated to the promotion of a campus community that appreciates, encourages, and celebrates diversity. The center advocates for students, creating spaces for cultural celebration, promoting leadership development, and providing opportunities for education and reflection about multicultural issues.
OMA also is involved with faculty/staff engagement by encouraging campus community and inclusion. One example of this is the annual Multiracial and Faculty of Color Retreat that the office puts on. This promotes the connecting and relationship forming between faculty and staff members over the course of a weekend that then are able to continue to develop back on campus.
