A brief description of how multiple stakeholder groups were involved in developing the plan:
Seattle Central Community College has 4 staff sit on the District Sustainability Committee. These staff represent a combination of faculty, administrative, and facilities employees. These staff help contribute to the District Sustainability Plan which is completed by the Sustainability Committee and approved by the Vice-Chancellor for the District. All activities outlined in the District plan will apply to the Central campus. The college is currently working on a campus specific plan that will elaborate on the District plan.

A brief description of the plan’s measurable goals :
Task 2: Increase student access to sustainability course listing
Have a common way of advertising sustainability focused and related courses to students at all three colleges
Task 3: Develop ongoing strategy for identifying courses with sustainability content
In support of the Strategic Plan, identify a method for identifying and coding courses with sustainability content.
Task 4: Analyze STARS assessment results to create modified business plan
Oversee the analysis of the STARS assessments to identify common gaps across the colleges, best practices in need of replication, and low-cost high priority sustainability activities. Also identify district-wide activities.
Task 5: Energy Submetering
Create a plan and budget to individually meter all college buildings for electricity, gas, steam, and water. Import meters into Portfolio Manager and track resource use on a monthly basis.
Task 6: Update District Purchasing Policies
Update purchasing policies to include District-wide preference for purchasing EPEAT electronics and GreenSeal cleaning products
Task 7: Benchmark Solid Waste, Recycling, and Composting
Collect and analyze data on amount of solid waste, recycling, and composting produced annually on each campus.
Task 8: Institutionalize student sustainability groups on each campus
Work with student groups to create a permanent sustainability group with diverse, active membership and year-to-year continuity
Task 9: Develop strategy for engaging student government in sustainability activities
Open a dialogue with student government on the three campuses about how they can contribute to the District’s sustainability plan. Seek to get a common minimum level of commitment from each college’s students.
Task 10: Increase Sustainability Communications
Relay sustainability success from both the entire district and individual campuses through regular communications pieces, district sustainability website, and traditional media

The District Sustainability Committee meets quarterly and reviews progress on current sustainability tasks via updates from the District Sustainability Coordinator and campus representatives who sit on the committee.
