A brief description of the diversity and equity committee, office and/or officer, including purview and activities:
Santa Rosa Junior College has a Student Success and Equity Committee that serves as a President's Advisory Committee and as a shared governance oversight body. It is established to provide recommendations to the Superintendent/President regarding the implementation of the Student Success Act of 2012, including the Student Equity Program. The committee's mission is to promote student development, equity, retention, success and completion. The purpose of the SRJC Office of Student Equity is to close achievement gaps in access and success in underrepresented student groups, as identified in local student equity plans. It's mission is to passionately cultivate learning through the development of a diverse community.

Santa Rosa Junior College's Embracing a Culture of Inclusion' (ECI) training program ECI is a key component to facilitating the vision of the college which is to be an inclusive, diverse and sustainable learning community that engages the whole person. This program offers support and training to promote inclusion and culture shift for the SRJC College Community. Participants interact with their colleagues to understand their role in supporting an inclusive workplace. The program was developed as a coordinated professional development approach by a cohort of faculty, classified and professionals and management over two years ago. Activities include: ECI Orientation for New Staff, PDA Workshops, Diversity and Inclusion Workshops, and Building Community learning Forums. Student cultural competence trainings are provided by the Director of Student Equity via class presentations, leadership retreats, and Student Employee Onboarding. In developing cultural competency trainings a verity of topics are covered from embracing a culture of inclusion, unconscious bias, growth mindset, and more.
