A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:
All new employees, faculty and staff, are required to attend New Employee Orientation. The Orientation covers a wide range of topics such as payroll, leave, benefits, health and safety, and campus sustainability (recycling and waste diversion, energy conservation, Farm Stand, and other sustainability events).
All new staff are required to attend a New Employee Welcome (NEW). NEW covers a wide range of topics such as the history of SCU, an introduction to Jesuit education, and an overview of campus DEI initiatives. In January 2020, the Center for Sustainability gave a presentation on campus sustainability at NEW.
Sustainability messaging is also present at the annual staff fair as a resource for existing and new employees.
